Who we are
The management team of the Society of Shoe Fitters is drawn from a wide cross-section of the footwear and foot health industry.
It is under their guidance that the Society aims to promote the message of shoe fitting and its importance to foot health and wellbeing in general.
The management team is able to draw on expertise from right across the sector, from manufacture through retail to podiatry
Bob Hardy has been a member and now Fellow and Trustee of the Society of Shoe Fitters for more than 40 years. He worked for Clarks Shoes, one of the world's leading footwear brands for more than 47 years. He was involved with Foot Fitting for almost 40 years finally retiring in 2017 as Head of Fitting.
Having spent the majority of his professional career in Higher Education as an Associate Professor, lecturer, and researcher a few years ago, he was appointed as the Chair of the Healthy Footwear Guide.
He was subsequently approached regarding the potential for the Healthy Footwear Guide to assume the responsibilities of the Society of Shoe Fitters and secure its continued existence and ensure it thrives.
Professor Wesley Vernon retired as a podiatrist in 2015. He held multiple senior roles in the world of podiatry, shoe fitting, forensics & research until his retirement.
